Is it Possible To See Yellowstone National Park in 3 Days with Kids?
Absolutely! It can easily happen with a few tips, tricks and apps! Why did we aim to see Yellowstone in 3 days? Because we only had 5 days in the park. What did we see? SOOO much! Lastly, how did it all pan out with kids that ranged in age from 2-16? It was a lot of driving but because we are nuts and our whole family is right there on the crazy train with us (Choo! Choo!) everything worked out perfectly!
When we set off for Yellowstone we went without much planning at all. We had our hotels planned out on our way up from Southern California, but everything else was left up to chance. When we arrived we found out that my amazing sister-in-law had a plan to see the best Yellowstone had to offer in only 3 days! We were pretty excited as we did absolutely no research and no peeking at pictures of Yellowstone before this. Obviously, we had seen pictures of Old Faithful, but other than that I had no previous knowledge of the park. I’ve planned every detail of a trip before and it was like I went through the whole trip just checking things off of my list. It really takes the pleasure out of exploring. With that in mind…
* Have a rough plan and take the park in sections
* Buy your park pass ahead of time
* Stay near the park (We stayed on the east side where they have less traffic reducing entry time into the park)
* Pack quick easy lunches and snacks
* Gas up at the end of the day
* Get to the park early each day
* Use Gypsy app to help you identify the must stop locations
* Take Yellowstone In Sections.

GyPSy is a must-have app when visiting Yellowstone!
I’m not affiliated with this company in any way, but, I wanted to share this app with you! It is the Yellowstone & Grand Teton Nation Parks app by GyPSy At only $9.99 this is a must have! You get both parks and it’s totally worth it! When driving around the park you won’t have cell service, but that’s OK! This app works without any connection. It uses GPS to find your location and when you hit the arrows on the map it automatically plays an audio recording of interesting facts about the park, what places you could stop at, and what places are a must see!
There was a bit of doubt from family members when I bought the app, but they were quickly proven wrong. It pointed out where the parking lots were and where to park if the lot was full. It was so helpful in so many ways!
**TIP** You need to keep your screen on the whole time you are driving so keep it plugged in while you are driving! You can easily pause it if you need your phone for a picture.
